Why is my satellite box showing different frequencies to whats listed on Lyngsat?

    eg

    Channel 5 showing at 10951 H 22001 on screen

    but

    10964 H 22000

    on Lyngsat?

Check that your LNB is configured as universal

All different? Including the high band channels (above 11700 mHz)?

Not that it really matters if you're receiving everything OK.

above 11700 they seem closer but still off by 1 -5

LNB local oscillator frequencies can be off a bit, within each band you would expect the channels to be off by the same amount & in the same direction.

Or it might just be a receiver quirk. As long as it tunes everything, especially the channels at the band edge, like the Channel 4 transponder, I wouldn't worry.

    Thanks just seems odd

I am looking to set up another dish for someone else with saorsat on 9e as well as 28.2e have everything but ka band lnb so was checking my frequencies

any idea why ka band lnb's are 4 times more expensive than universal ones?

    Supply and demand.

I'll elaborate on that. Universal LNBs are mass produced and sold all over Europe and beyond. The Ka band LNB's used for Saorsat only cover a part of Ka band and are only wanted by a minority of people of one of the most sparsely populated countries in Europe.

The setbox uses AFC. The LNB downconvertor oscillator isn't exact and even varies quite a lot with temperature. So any automatic tuned transponder will not match.
