Astra Engine started smoking

    Hi folks,
Hoping to get some advice on this issue with the Astra estate - will update with specific year/model shortly.

Coming off the M50 today I noticed smoke coming from the bonnet. I pulled over immediately and lifted the bonnet and it seemed to be coming from the area in the first photo below. Specifically from where the 'plug' part meets the container in the below image.

It was definitely smoke rather than steam although it was quite light in colour.

There were no warning lights lit at any stage, but unfortunately I didn't think to check the temperature gauge.

I let it cool down for a while and since my place was only about a 2 minute drive I drove slowly back home.

Again after this short trip there were no warning lights lit.

Any thoughts on what the issue could be? Any help appreciated!

    Oil burning is the smoke

I guess you have rocker cover gasket leaking oil

Male sure your oil filler cap is turned all the way and not come loose, my last oil charge on my astra, didn't tighten cap proberly, oil came out in same place as your photo , it was oil running down and burning on exhaust manifold

If not the filler cap then it is the oil light switch is leaking. It looks like the filler cap though.
