I know this has been asked a few times, but figures and tax goes right over my head so here we go...

I am a 'freelance' web designer/developer based in Ireland, I am on a social services payment for a long term illness but have been asked by a few SME's/Charities to build and put online websites for them. As such, I amn't charging the earth and have 'earned' less than a thousand euro's in the past few months.

Where do I stand with tax on this? How much can a freelancer earn before it has to be declared?

All income must be declared, simple as that.

Self-employed people can earn up to 8250 tax fee, typically.

How can you work if on illness benefit? surely that means that your are too unwell to hold down a job? You are now working so therefore shouldn't be entitled to claim illness benefit. Disgrace!

I know the person above and she is wheelchair bound so think before making assumptions of why a person is on a SW payment
