Hey guys I need a suggestion. I am applying for various jobs online in fashion retail (Boss, Tommy Hilfiger, Brown Thomas, etc) and I was wondering if it would be a nice idea to put my photo in the CV because I think that in fashion retail the employers care about their employees' physical appearance. Any advise/suggestion? Thanking you in advance.

you could possibly include it with the C.V but i wouldn't put it on the actual C.V itself as it could look odd!

I've often gotten CVs with photos attached and i work in IT, its fairly common in European applicants.

I think it's ok for this sort of job.

I am assuming you are quite good looking though.

Very common in Europe, my brother lives in Germany and he would find it odd not to see a photo in the corner of a CV.

Here its not common but I am not sure if employers want to see it or not.

For retail, yeah go for it, but personally I think for retail jobs, it's better to visit the store with your CV. Check out the Dundrum Town Centre vacancies page, almost all stores ask people to come into the store with your CV and that would include brands like you mentioned in your post. I think it's that they can suss out your appearance (like it or not, this is a consideration in retail) and your attitude and energy.

No, back in the day airlines would ask for a passport type photo but now they do not. I have been in aviation my whole life and I never attached a photo and I got the job. I am an American and have been coming to Ireland every summer and moved here 10 years ago, now I help people with their CVs and the only people that have photos attached are Eastern Europeans and they don't even want the photo attached if it is not needed. I see people applying for a job in a B&B that the owner asked for a photo!!! BIG red flag!!! If you want to attach a photo then attach, but I would advise not to. They can and will see your beauty at the time of interview. And don't put your birthdate on your CV!!! So many people do that here and again, totally not needed..

I always include my LinkedIn profile on any applications. That way they can see my photo if they wish too.

I wouldn't ever send a photo in though.

Just a note on this, should anybody be applying for jobs on the continent, specifically Germany, photos are a must. Without a photo in the top right corner, it will go straight in the bin.
