NON thirsty petrols? For those of us that don't give cars death!

I know getting the best out of the MPG of your car is mainly down to your driving style and I don't be rallying into cars so with that in mind can anyone suggest a nice, stylish petrol that won't drink it on regular short trips adding to 200 miles a week? Please not something boring.

    Budget 4-6K
    Engine from 1.6L-2.0L

Those Legacy's are on the thirsty side though, even the 2.0 litre ones.

Nice, stylish, petrol for short trips with best MPG and no need for rallying for 4 - 6k?

Hmm - only what comes to my head fulfilling all those is Prius.

Honda Civic 1.8 vtec. Economical and powerful enough too.

Or a Honda Accord I get over 650 km out of a tank of petrol on mine. Not bad for 2.0 anyway.

Yeah I think I'd have to agree. Guzzlers. Out of my league I think

Prius and stylish should never be used in the same sentence haha!

I hadn't even thought about a civic to be honest. I'll have a look at them! Cheers!

I would love one but have a few people telling me they're very bad on petrol. But yes I know everyone has different stories about their cars so I won't write them off.
    cheers for the help

Out of interest, how much fills a tank for you? And how much of that is non motorway driving?

Tank costs 80 euro at the moment anyway. I do no motorway miles really just drive to and from work daily on B roads. To and from ballincollig. Done 10000 km in six months since I got it!

That's very similar to, if not a little bit better than my 1.5 Almera! What year is it? How much is a year's tax? Around 900?

Not really that bad i get 40 mpg on a run. average 32 on a 5 mile commute. €80 to fill and get on average about 620 km

Mine is 09 but it's the older model(cl7) last few of them I say and mine is a type s. Tax is 750 a year on it. Came from a 03 focus diesel.

    Heh funny logic.
The 50 seater coach I drive gives me sometimes over 1500km out of a tank of diesel. Not bad for 6.8 litre :)

Just mean focus I had before was diesel and that did 480-500 miles on a tank accord has been better on petrol than expected seeing as get 400 miles a tank.

That kind of comparison makes sense only if you are sure that tanks in both vehicles are exactly the same. Obviously they aren't.
Hence my example with a bus.

I can do over 1500km on a tank of diesel in a bus, but only 750km on tank of diesel in my civic.
Does that mean bus is more fuel efficient?

How many litres of diesel does your coach hold? I know the accord will be somewhere around 60 litres,

    Obviously not.

I think the comparison he's making is fairly clear to be honest. He stated his MPG and cost to fill a tank.

No need to be so pedantic.

400 litres afaik, but I might be wrong.
I fill it up in our company yard, and there is no meter on diesel supply tank.

I see your point. All I'm saying is accord isn't bad on petrol can do worse. Think difference in tank capacity is 10 litres or just under.

Theyre very nice... Like them a lot and 750 isn't too bad I suppose. Could be a lot worse!

    It's actually €710 on pre 2008 models.

If I'm gonna get a petrol that drinks juice I'd just go all out on a Focus ST. Love them big time! But at my age it's impossible to insure. I know tax is very high as well but I've seen a few that are the 2.5 litre engines but they get taxed in the 1301cc-1400 cc range... Anyone know why? If they're still genuinely the 2.5 litre engine I'd do my best to get a quote to insure one!

I know that question defeats the purpose of the thread but I am just curious

Are you sure they are a genuine ST or just a mutton dressed as lamb 1.4 with a ST replica body kit and alloy wheel?

Yeah I tbh I assumed that! Said those exact words to a mate but I saw a few of them so just thought maybe there's something I'm missing
