    I just saw the usual Clare FG and FF candidates turning up on my friend's doorstep as if nothing as happened over the last 15 years in the areas of planning, flooding, unemployment,banking or personal debt.

    Do u think people outside Dublin would vote for someone other than the usual parties? Could someone from the Socialist party/Libertas or People before Profit get voted in?

    I really hope they don't, obviously. Some change would be good though.
    There seem to be more indies and new parties happening, even if they are the left spectrum more is always good

    Taking an opposite view on the number of parties. Based on what I read on a political choice theory by a chap called Mueller, there are tradeoffs involved in the number of parties. One of which is the stability of the resulting government vs the inherant closer reflective of people's views in a n-party system.
