    Hi guys
I am looking at the Killarney Gleneagles (http://www.runkillarneymarathon.com/) event as my first half marathon. The fear I would have though is that the course looks to be downhill with no uphill to offset so I may do this one easily enough and then be shocked when it comes to a tougher course

Any thoughts on whether I should try for something flatter for a first run at this distance?
    Also is €50 good value?

Yes, that course has a lot of downhill in the first half and is quite flat later on. It does suggest potentially a very fast time, but only for runners who don't trash their quads during the early downhill miles.

I haven't run the full there, but I did it when it was still a 15 mile race and found in tough going once the downhill stopped.

The full course looks horrendous, particularly the 7 to 13 mile section
