Data transfer fails over wifi between devices

Hi I sometimes need to transfer data between two Android devices. I have tried Es File Explorer & also SuperBeam. Transfer can sometimes be almost completed & then I get a failed message. The router is in the room when I try a transfer. At times it won't even start transferring & occasionally it does complete.
Would anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? Thanks

I cant really help you with your wi-fi problem, but have you tried push bullet to transfer files between your devices? I find it very reliable.
