    Hi guys
I notice b and q have a 20% sale on the weekend and im in need of a power house for the car so can anyone reccomend something in the 150/200 price range?

It doesnt have to be b&q ect just something decent for the money that would also be good for general cleaning too, eg patio

I have this one and find it great, many others such as Curran (a top detailer) has one too and highly recommends it.

I was only looking at the smaller c110 on amazon there, c120 seems out of stock in did, argos have what I think is the c120 for 125, any ideas where might do it cheaper again?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

As said the C120 is a very good machine for regular car washing!!
In fact its a great all round machine.....it was on pretty much non stop for 3 hours during the week as I power washed the patio and paving slabs around the house. Never cut out once, as some do when they heat up on constant usage (generally the smaller power washers)

If you arent in a major hurry; keep a regular eye on Amazon; they go up and down quite a bit on price, frequently, so if you have a month or two, you might get it for a bargain!

Nilfisk are great washers. They are much better imo than those overrated karchers.

I noticed on amazon they say they cant ship the nilfisks to Ireland. Im gonna suss out homebase over the weekend and see if they stock them but if anyone else happens to notice the c120 in the meantime on sale anywhere feel free to pop up a post

I know parcel motel is an option but but there dimensional weight charges might outweight any savings

Ya, defo go for a nilfisk, I have the C120.3, which was in argos for €125, great job, makes washing the car so easy. It comes with a car washing brush (don't use on the car, will leave loads of swirl marks) and the patio cleaner.
On a side note, those of ye that have one, aren't they able to suck water out of a barrel?

Not 100% sure, but it probably would. Definitely suitable if the water container had a outlet at the bottom as gravity fed would be enough.

Well mine sucks out of a barrel about 50cm high. It's difficult to get it to start sucking, so I have to pour water into the hose with a jug to get it started, but then it will suck no bother. I was just asking because I wasn't sure if it would be doing any harm to the machine, putting pressure on the motor etc.

it should say it on the manufacturers web site. its a selling point, so if it can do it, they will say it.

Homebase are selling the Nilfisk Centennial (c120.3) for €110. It's a 1650w machine with plenty of power. Gave it a quick test run on the back deck this afternoon and it work perfectly. They only had a few left in stock.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,391 ✭✭✭5500

I was in home base fonthill yesterday and they only had karchers in stock.

Argos have the centennial for 125 but they also have the titan 120 for 125 too. From what I can see the titan supercedes the centennial and it has 3 extra accessories, but it's got a lower power rating so I'm a little tied as to which is better

Isnt the titan 1400w and the Centennial 1650w?

I just started looking for a power washer and found this thread. The nilfisks seem to be the power washers of choice ?? Argos have the Titan 120 for €140 now. Does any one use them with water from a barrel. With water charges coming, it would make sense to buy a power washer that you can use recycled rain water from the roof down pipe as well as mains water option.
    Thanks !!!

Whilst I can't speak to the suck action provided by the Nilfisks,(I run a petrol PW myself), if you are going down the road of rainwater harvesting make sure you put some sort of filtration system in place.
Untreated rainwater straight from the roof will contain silt and grit from roof tiles, the sh1te in the gutters etc., and you don't really want to be blasting this at your car's paintwork at high pressure!

Unfiltered, it would probably clog up your pump eventually anyway.

Bit of discussion about using a water butt above.

I can tell you that my Nilfisk C120.3 sucks water from a barrel. It would work better if you had an attachment at the bottom of the barrel, and then the hose coming from that, so the water will flow out easier. That said mine sucks from a barrel about 50 cm high.

Lidl is selling a pressure washer today. Based on some Google searches it seems to be lavor fitment. However, lidl is also selling an adapter with the washer which allows it to be connected to other manufacturers items.

Does anybody know what exactly this adapter let's you connect to, in terms of an autobrite snow foam Lance, what fitment should I go for?

I've put the link in below, I don't know how to just put the picture directly here.

    Thanks

Lidl power washers in the pasr have been Lavor fittings with no need for an adaptor. The one photo'd is a Karcher fitting.

    Thanks very much.

This is the lidl fitting, you wouldn't happen to recognise the fitment?

    Yeah, that's the Lavor.

Sorry; meant to say in the previous post that the adaptor photo'd was to change the Lavor fitting to a Karcher.
