Have been looking at 10 reg BMW 320 (coming in around €16,000) 90,000 km or Audi A4 110,000 km €. Both UK reg. Same money, just wondering are used BMW a pain for maintenance and expensive to maintain?? I really havent a clue currently driving 1.6 FSI 06 VW Passat comfortline which I have from new only 126,000 km.

thanks in advance for your opinions!!

The 3 Series would definitely be nicer to drive than the A4 but the A4 would be more spacious and more modern since it was only launched in 2008. You might also want to google "BMW N47 timing chain issues". Plenty of food for thought there.

Would you consider a Passat CC? Less common than the regular Passat and A4. You will get a high spec one for similar money as a basic spec A4. Plenty of interior space and uses the same engines as the A4/Passat.

From my experience of owning a BMW 3 Series and now a Passat CC, there is not that much difference in the price of spare parts or servicing either.

    thanks for your reply

We looked at the CC as well, its one of my favs! Only problem is I can't seem to find a 5 seater for that money, seems to be all 4 seats for that price range. I'll keep looking anyway and thanks again for your advice!

5 seater came in mid 2010. Middle seat is really only good for a child though, would not recommend it for an adult unless it was only for a short trip.
