Election Posters

I was just looking at all the election posters that are up around the place.

Would it not make more sense to put up a different type of poster, one that will show all the candidates on the same poster instead of having every empty space on a pole plastered with several different posters of different candidates? One collective poster to inform people of what candidates are running in the area.

Just an idea, anyone agree of disagree?

Unfortunately common sense never seems to prevail , when it comes to politics in this country .

I have now even seen posters that do not comply with terms and conditions , as they have no info on them as to where they were printed .

It is a good idea. Something like this would be a lot more presentable, and voter-friendly.

I wish all parties would come to an agreement not to use posters at all. I know it won't happen. I do wonder though how much is any voter influenced by seeing posters. They are a bit annoying, in my opinion.

Can I put up my own posters if I want? I just wonder about the legality of it all. The posters wreck my head to be honest

From memory in Dail elections you're not allowed use T.D. so why are the rules different for the EU elections? I've seen a number of posters with MEP either after the candidate's name or implying they're already an MEP.

Plenty of the posters remain in Dublin City for the long since passed public fig-leaf meetings.

You can't put up your own posters unless you are standing for election. Usually they are classed as 'litter' and are illegal but there is a special exemption for elections.
I don't think nominations are closed yet so if you really, really want to see your face on a poster there might still be time.:)

    Never heard of that rule

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Paul Murphy has MEP on his posters and Brid Smith has for MEP beside her name.

Brian Hayes, Brid Smith and Paul Murphy seem to have some illegal posters up that have no mention of their election agent etc...
