Can't help you but I did read this this morning on TFF and remembered you asked after them:

"The Dorper breed carries a fragile skin gene (grab a lamb and handfuls of skin rips out) for which there is now a DNA test available too."

Surprised about that because they are highly thought of in other countries and starting to get a good name for themselves in the UK

The Meatmaster is a cross between Dorper and Damara methinks, the Dorper itself is a stable cross from Dorset x Blackhead Persian - these are sheep with feet best suited to arid ground. Ever wondered why there are no Merinos in Ireland or Britain and many in Australia? (well there is one flock in Devon or Dorset at least) - it's their feet; not designed for our ground (though they do have Merinos on the high hills of the NZ Alps in South Island, think that's the rain shadow side though)

the Persian Blackhead is actually from Somalia! Not in Europe anywhere - first ones in South Africa were came ashore from a shipwreck in 1890's methinks! Tropical breed of sheep - hair not wool, feet suit arid lands
