Primary teacher wanting to do educational psychology

    Hi everyone.
I have an honours degree in education and qualified 4 years. I'm tired of waiting to get a permanent post and sick of media and folks discussing what they think of teachers in the awful way they do in this country.
I've decided to leave the profession (now 26 years old) and want to return to study to improve my prospects. I would like to do most of my studies online if possible as my partner is also returning to fill time education.
Does anybody know the best route for me, should I do a masters In education first? Am I looking at 4 years in UCD even though I don't plan to up route myself from kilkenny? Would my college results reflect on my options as I qualified with first class honours?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

You would have to first get a psychology qualification, either a BA or hdip that meets the PSI accreditation.

You will them have to do a masters in educational psychology

dar100 is right, an educational psychologist needs a qualifying psychology degree, and then a specialised postgrad.

What makes you interested in this area? Might be worth looking at related work you can do in the meantime.
