    Hi,

I was thinking about buying one of the tassimo coffee machines(not to sure what one yet) and I was wondering what people thought of these or if there was a better brand out there. I wasn't going to buy one that was to expensive.

    Thanks!

    Hi Elaine,

I think the A Modo Mio machines from Lavazza are great. Coffee choice is excellent too.

The pods are 7.5g so for me 1 pod does for a small Americano, this makes a difference if you drink a few coffees every day.

I find the Nespresso capsules too small to get any reasonable strength from 1 pod so I would need 2 each time and this gets quite expensive quickly.

Pods range from 37.5c to 48.5c depending on the blend you purchase.

Power City have a special on at the minute and you can pick up a decent machine for about €80.

Best of luck in your search.

I would recommend a small Nespresso machine. Pixie or 'U'. Think they come in around €120?

The coffee intensity is dependent on the pod you select, not on the quantity of coffee grams in them. (Think there are between 5-6g in them).

I was in Brown Thomas in Cork a few weeks ago and they had a demo of the Lavazza machine next to the Nespresso shop in there so I sampled. Didn't think much of them to be honest, very bitter. And the machine itself had a lot of plastic and didn't seem very sturdy.

So I would recommend a Nespresso machine. Harvey Norman or Power city always have offers on.

Great link below, bit of advice, stay away from the Starbucks machine!!

For anyone shopping for pod/capsule machines, Amazon UK have reductions on certain nespresso/tassimo/senseo instant coffee gear.

They also have discounts on bean to cup machines, up to 44% off. Part of their 'April coffee month offers'

If you take your time buying a Nespresso machine they regularly have deals where you get €50 credit when you buy & sign up for Nespresso Club. Not sure is it the added competition now that others can sell Nespresso compatible machines, but they're bringing out plenty new flavours etc lately, which is great!
