    The Eurocode guidance on when to use 'poor' or 'good' bond conditions for anchorage lengths isn't very clear. The only example I can find is of a slab.

    I've checked the IStructE guide , ICE guide and the detailing manual, but no luck. Does anyone know where I can find reference documents? I am particularly interested in piles, beams and thick wall panels.

    The bond condition is dependent on the direction of the pour, so for a slab, the bottom reinforcement is considered to be a 'good' bond as it is at the base of the pour, and the top portion is to be considered a 'bad' bond as micro-cracking occurs as water bleeds through to the surface.

    So for beams and slabs, typically bottom steel is good bond, top steel is bad bond.

    For columns and walls, due to the direction of the pour, these are considered good bond also.

    'Concise Eurocode 2' by the Concrete Society has some good explanations and diagrams.
