Connection to pump up road bike wheels?

    Hi,

I've finally decided to get the bike out of the shed and hit the road again. The two wheels on the old bike that I have are flat and I'm wondering where can I get a connection so that I can pump them up? The bike is a racer / road bike. The valve is very narrow. Is there a specific name on the type of connection I need and where can I pick one up? Also will the connection work with a traditional, standard bicycle pump?

Thanks for your help. I'm a complete novice when it comes to things like this.

Its called a presta valve, the other wider type is a car/Schrader valve.

Any bike shop will have a pump to suit.

This is the adapter you need if you only have a schrader connection type pump.

    Thanks guys.

I had a browse on Halfords but couldn't find anything. I'll pop into the local bike shop on the way home.

    Thanks again.
