Need a 3g Router for Vodafone or o2

I need to connect a CCTV DVR to the internet in a location where there is no broadband. There is good Vodafone and o2 3g signal at the location. Anyone know of a router that will take a vodafone or o2 sim card and use 3g to provide an internet connection? All I need is one ethernet port on the router to connect the DVR.

You'll also need a sim card,Bill-pay or Pre-pay,whichever suits your needs,although I'd recommend Bill-pay because a Pre-pay sim may run out and you'll miss something on the camera.

I would recommend the Huawei Unlocked modem because you can easily switch sim cards if reception drops and the TP-Link Router if you need 100% reliability,saying that any of the other should work just fine for what you need.

Compact micro-USB powered router, with it's own battery built in would fit the requirement. I've found it pretty reliable.

Or with the fiber upgrades, you might be able to find the Vodafone DSL EasyBox which they've been supplying for a few years going spare / being sold

By looking at the specs, the ethernet port is used for converting a wired lan to wifi.

Whether it's the best choice for an IP Camera...
The device gets it's power through the micro USB connection. Doesn't have 4G support. Don't know whether your carrier blocks incoming connections.

I'm currently doing some research. I have been asked by a friend to install a camera on a farm to monitor cows during calving season.(Rural area with no phone line).

I was planning on using the 02 3G Network. Although I have noticed on some other threads that there have been issues with peer to peer connections due to port blocking etc..

I use the Dovado Pro's a lot - fantastic little devices.

Something to check though, if you want to access the camera remotely is if you will get a public IP, rather then going through a NAT system.

Dovado devices have a VPN option to work around the private IP limitations handed out by Vodafone et al on mobile devices.

Hi I'm looking for some advice on a similar topic quite like yours tippgaafan.

I'm looking to set up a camera in a shed which is about 50 metres from the main house (my Dads) for him to monitor cows calving.

He has a Huawei E 5331 on three.ie providing mobile a decent broadband signal in his house. I want to extend this signal to the shed.

I am thinking of a few options but wondering what would work before I invest in any hardware.

I'm considering something like the TP-Link TL-MR3020 to give the Huawei E 5331 an ethernet port. Im then thinking of using a set of homeplugs to take the signal to the shed (I believe they are on the same electrical circuit).

I will then connect the homeplug in the shed to a camera of some type (seeking advice on wireless camera/ip camera/old smartphone).

The overall objective is that the camera can be vied over the internet via a smartphone from anywhere.

Can anyone tell me if I am on the right road with this theory or am I way off.

I also have two old routers, an eircom one and a vodafone one (HG556a). Could I connect the three.ie Huawei E 5331 (or a dongle with the sim from the mifi) to either of these routers to do the same job as the TP-Link TL-MR3020.

Sorry for being so longwinded but hopefully some of you can point me in the right direction !
