Medical Card - Waiting Time

    Hi
Medical Card was up for renewal at the end of January. Got the notification to download and print the renewal pack, sent all the requested information and documentation back and am still waiting.

They sent me a letter in February asking for bank statement (which I sent with original application). I phoned them to tell them that I'd already sent them. I do on-line bankng and it was an e-statement that I sent (trying to help the environment and all that). Their response was that they don't accept printouts and they needed the originals. So off to the bank for originals. Sent them off then 2 weeks later I get another letter asking for my house insurance certificate and life assurance certificate (never been asked for those before and they weren't asked for in the renewal pack - I checked). So I duly send them off and......... I'm still waiting.

Have rang them and asked what the story is but all they can tell me is "it's still pending, all docs have been received, so just wait."

Anyone else experiencing this? I'm sure I read somewhere that there was supposed to be a 15 day turn around..... or am I imagining things.

That's just 'business as usual' in that department unfortunately. Do a search and you'll see all the problems like yours other people were having. So you'll have just to sit it out.

Your card should be renewed on a month to month basis while their doing this review if past its expired date.

Your GPs office will be able to tell you that over the phone.

Yeah.... I've been checking that everyday and it's just saying it's "on hold pending additional information" and it's been saying that for the last few weeks now.

Gonna give them a ring I think and see what the hold up is.

    Thanks again.
