Family friendly resort near Barcelona?

Anyone suggest a nice resort within 50km of Barcelona, suitable for families? Was looking at Sitges, as the location is good, but is it an Ibiza type resort?

Salou and the surrounding areas of cambrills and la pineada would be very popular with families due to it's close proximity to the amazing Portaventura themeparks. It's very safe, beautiful beaches and lots of choice accomodation wise. We personally stay in the theme park hotels. Cambrills and sangueli camping parks are very very popular.

Camping Castell Montgri in L'Estartit about 90 minutes from Barcelona (but close enough to Girona airport) is a nice spot, especially for younger kids, good facilities.
