Verbal Insurance Cover - is it enough?

Hi, my car insurance is due for renewal today and I paid the premium online this morning. The payment went through and I received an email to say that the payment was confirmed but that cover was not.

I phoned the company and spoke to an agent who said that the payment hadn't been applied to the account yet. I asked him to confirm that I was covered to drive today and he said he just said ah,huh - I asked him again and he said 'Yes'.

I'm just a bit worried now as I only have an agents word that the cover is in place. Is this enough?

    Thanks.

I always ask for email confirmation from them to be sure for situations like that and temporarily switching cover to another car etc.

Thanks for the reply. I had asked for one but they said that they couldn't send an email that contained an actual policy number.

That's brilliant - cutting it out yourself!

It's AA. I called back and they verbally gave me the policy number in case I'm stopped.

Thats odd do most insurance discs have some form of hologram to reduce chance of fakes etc, so one from a printer would look like a fake

No. Their just a piece of square white paper with a green stripe on the side. Like the one on the left below. The tax discs are a bit different looking alright and may have something like that.
