How comes you never hear of cuts to the wages of middle-ranking / upper ranking civil servants?

How comes you never hear of cuts to the wages of HSE "administrative" staff?

Is always seems to be teachers and nurses. Always.

They did - But the unions keep pushing the "Front-line" staff out into the media trying to build support..

Most people want more/better teachers, nurses , ambulance staff etc. etc.

What's the media sob story going to be if it's about Mary from accounts payable in the Department of Fisheries??

Far better for the Unions if the media story is about the Nurse/Fireman working 2 jobs to cover bills...

You don't hear it because you don't have to deal with any of them. Then you'd hear it ALL THE BLEEDIN' TIME!

All public servants experienced the same series of three pay cuts.

    Admin, nurses, doctors, teachers, etc.

No special cuts for certain groups.

    TDs included as well.

Is there some law that stops them from targeting specific groups? Or is it just a case of front line staff being the biggest cost by a large factor so it would be a waste of time?

All civil servants took many cuts. Promotion is nigh impossible to achieve too at certain levels. You'll be glad to hear they all feel a lot worse about themselves now than they did a few years ago, as if most Gov Depts aren't depressing enough to begin with.

WOW! That OP has some level of ignorance.

It was all over the media and was quite savage on all civil servants.

How comes saying "How comes" is seen as acceptable in this day and age?

    A pension Levy
    A direct Pay Cut
    Extra hours to work
    Some even lost Leave
    Cuts to expenses

Plenty of cuts taken by civil servants
