    https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/6008836

£4.99 Google Play credit for Chromecast purchase

This offer is available to residents in the UK for Chromecasts purchased in the UK only. To claim this offer you must be 13+ years old, have Internet access, and have or activate a UK Google Play account and a UK Google Wallet account.

Above T&Cs apply but I have a UK Google account used to purchase devices so I would think this will work without issue

That means that you need to leave the phone next to the TV. What if I want to actually use the phone too?

I have been using the cast options from YouTube on my phone to an Xbox and it's great. I presume that the chromecast would have a similar smooth user experience and you get to use the phone as normal too.
For the price of it I think it's a great option

Work on any phone with micro USB. But as someone suggested, it DOES require you phone to be left beside the TV. All this does is transmit exactly what you see on your phone screen onto your TV. I just use it for streaming some streaming TV apps.

Cool thanks, all i want to do is watch the odd game on BT etc, have tried the usual means on the phone, but couldn't find a cheap way to connect it to the tv(have pc connected to tv in my room, but a box room is a tight fit for watching games)

Just to point out also that the normal USB plug on this is for charging purposes.

Definitely not the case. Only works on a tiny subset of phones that have MHL.

    !!NOT true!!

Only some phones support mhl and the one you linked to uses a proprietary 11 pin mhl port won't work with anything else don't give advice on stuff you obviously know nothing about.

That's where I got mine. Its a neat little device but mine won't work thanks to my router :(

I deal with routers everyday and could probably resolve the issue if I had a look but I'm restricted from it :(

And I cant even return it to Argos. Anyone looking to buy a 2nd hand Chromecast???

I've been messed around by their reservation system. Ordered a second one which was due to be in last Thursday according to their email to me. Went over Thursday and there was no sign of my reservation on the system. The helpful lad found it on their computer and said it wasn't due to be in Saturday.

Saturday evening, after closing time, I got the text to say it was there. Popped over Sunday morning and the girl told me it was to be collected by the end of Saturday. Explained the rigmarole but the result was I had to make another reservation what was due to be in today.

You can't return it because you don't want it but you can if there is something wrong with it ;)

Hopefully no such messing when I go over in the morning after waiting a month for a adapter that doesn't work

I suppose €40 beats a new smart tv or a laptop/tablet and run a wire or even a old pc

Again for those non tech minded that think its just stick it in the back of the telly and away you go until buffering and everything happens

    Apples and Oranges.
Which is better depends on what you want to use them for.

The Chromecast is very slick and the range of content available is opening up all the time.

That said something that runs XBMC well opens up a whole other range of options.
