Shipping Time + Possible Extra Charge?

Hey guys. I've only ever bought very, very cheap or small items on ebay before but last Thursday I purchased a bulky item for a total of €140.

The seller, located in France, took a picture of the package before sending and it looked rather bulky and big.

I'm just wondering would I have to pay any extra charges once it arrives because of the size/value and do you guys think it would have to be paid on delivery?

He also gave me a tracking number and it took me about an hour to find out which site uses it (found a universal site that checks multiple places).

In terms of shipping time, do you guys think that I can expect it to arrive today or tomorrow to Limerick? (do packages normally have to go to Cork first?)

"Export Suiv 22/04/2014 IE Dédouané, distribution en cours"

"Export Followed 04/22/2014 Cleared Customs IE, current distribution"

It seems to have cleared customs anyway which is a good sign!

Is it coming via An Post or by courier?

You see I'm not actually sure.

I'm going to guess Courier since the tracking number I'm using looks like it's from a Courier.

You won't have to pay any customs as it's within the EU and there should be no other extra charges.
I'm unsure about delivery. It tends to vary by company and location. If you don't mind naming the courier, someone else might have a better idea. If your in a rural area it may take a day extra, if you're in the city I'd probably expect it today.

An post tracking numbers start with 2 letters, then a string of numbers then two more letters. Try the number you have on the an post website http://www.anpost.ie/AnPost/ at least that way you can definitely rule out An Post. If it is all numbers it is possibly a DHL waybill number.

Without knowing which way it is coming it is hard to say when it will arrive. An Post parcels go through portloais. courier parcels normally through dublin.
Either way you should probably get it before the weekend.

    Thanks for the help guys!

I was using this to track my parcel number (can't post url):
    csuivi(dot)courrier(dot)laposte(dot)fr

It's all in french and it told me the item passed through Irish customs yesterday and stopped at that.

I just punched the number into An Post and it came up as delivered. It got delivered to my neighbours house today. I guess the tracking number switched over to An Post?
    I would have never checked!

Thanks guys. Good to know that no extra charge will be needed.

When a parcel arrives by post into ireland it gets a new tracking number from An Post. The original tracking number still works on the An Post website and it usually gives more up to date info than the tracking website of the sender.

happy to hear it arrived safely and quite quickly by the sounds of it. Tres bon.
