    hi guys,
Over the last few months Ive been playing a nice draw and fades.
Cant compilain about ball striking except for the driver.
Every time i hit im losing it to a high slice.
Sometimes if i catch it perfect it fades about 10 yards. very rare tho!
Im hitting my fairway wood further off the tee than my driver.
Question i have is, could it be the shaft?
No other club in the bag is causing trouble!
The shaft in the driver is a Diamana ilima 61 mid-hi flex-s titleist 910D2
    The shaft in 910f is a Diamana ahina 82 low-mid flex-s.

all opinions welcome and thank you!

It's almost definitely not the shaft mate.

Everything else I'd write would have applied to me and maybe not be your issue.

I can remember only being able to hit my driver ~200 yards at the range, no matter how hard I'd swing it'd only go higher and more right.

It was all face to path issues for me, it could be that you are more relaxed with the 3 wood because you are trying to hit a number with it. A lot of people will hit the 3 wood say 230 and try to hit the driver 330. This causes them some ****, way more than you imagine.

If you are slicing/fading try closing the face a hair. Hit up with the driver and swing more out to the right. Failing that get a lesson, the pro will sort you out way quicker than some hack off the net :-)

The shaft could be an issue but is most likely not.
    I agree with mrc above

Check this out to understand why the ball does what it does:

Maybe even try what Mark suggests here to play a driver draw:

Couple of things i've noticed over few years is players that have a high slice have a number of issues. I was that ever guy a 2 seasons ago and when I hit a bad one now its high and turning right.
1 Watch out for ball position, I like it off me left heel.
2 Don't aim left, this only increase the chances of a high slice
3 Tee height, half the ball above the crown of the driver
4 Low and slow as Monty says
5 Tilt the spine away from the target
6 At the top of the back swing the weight should be on the inside of your back foot
7 Separation between the arms and body
8 Pulling the club fat in the take away, leads to and over the top swing

As you can see there are many reasons for a high slice, the shaft can be a facter but my guess its got to do with the swing. The only real advise I'll give and the only one thats worth reading is, ask a Pro? Within a copy of swings t€he will be able to help and it won't cause you €250. But a new shaft will!!!

Agree it is more likely you than the shaft

Path of swing can have a bigger effect than face angle. Possibly your taking it back to far on the outside.

If Right handed Try practicing with a head cover under your left arm, it will keep left arm close to body and aim to get left shoulder back pointing at the ball

Aim right with feet and shoulders, swing up, and never slice again, straight or draw is the result.

I had the same problem some time ago. A few things the pro showed me. Weight shift was wrong. At impact the weight was still on my right foot still instead of my left foot causing me to scoop the ball instead of driving through it. I wasnt completing the shoulder turn and instead was moving my arms in the last part of the backswing. And lastly, even though my feet were aligned correctly he put two alignment rods on my shoulders and hips which showed both of them aiming left of the line my feet were on.
Just a few basics to look out for. Correcting them worked for me.

Very good post and sums up where I was a year ago.

As well as following most/all above, I would add that a few "feels" helped me.

My slice swing was as if I was starting an old lawn mower with my left arm... A fairly aggressive movement, just before impact I would start to pull that chord to get it started... Up and across my body.
That was my "bad feel" and I still practice swing that to engrain the "wrongness" of it all.

My "good feel" is that the left arm is almost weightless and I'm skimming a stone with the right.

All that said, aiming right was the biggest obstacle and I'm still not trusting myself enough with that.
