I am 7months pregnant and out of work due to bad back problems, loss of feeling in my left leg most of the time and have went into labour several times and luckily was able to slow down contractions.. I have been claiming ilness benefit, I have never claimed anything off the social welfare or have been on the dole so I don't know my entitlements very well.. At the start of my pregnancy I got a letter to tell me my doctor appointments for baby check up are free of charge but my doctor is charging me on my check ups to give me my certs even doh the social pay him a fee to give me them and he gets paid for my free check ups.. Is this right that he's charging me 60 euro for my check ups just because he's giving me certs? Can anybody help me or if anyone else is or has been in the same situation any advice would be appreciated!

If you have a medical condition brought on by pregnancy like high blood pressure your gp can apply to get extra check ups because high blood pressure can lead to dangerous outcomes for both mother and baby. I think diabetes is the other condition, you can get about 5 extra visits

As back problems are not covered for the extra visits, so you will get the basic 6 gp visits and anything after that you have to pay yourself.
