Hi mates,I have an interview for debt collector role. Need your advise what to do for it? They might give me a scenario to collect recovery with at least 50% of months payments should the debtor have missed his/her payments. your advises will be a great help to me.

    Thanks.

Look for a different job, is the only advice I can offer.

You might have better luck getting useful responses in the Banking forum or in the Work & Jobs forum.

Don't work in Debt Collection myself, but have designed IT systems in that space and spoken to many who work in that area. Off the top of my head, I'd imagine a decent knowledge of Financial Planning, good communication & people skills, determination and an ability to put up with abuse (without descending to the abuser's level!) would probably be the main skills I'd imagine you would need.

Ultimately, most customers you will be dealing with will have financial problems and under a great stress, will probably not be very financially aware, and will often take the view that you (or the client you represent) is somehow at fault (natural human defence mechanism). Your job will be to work with them, identify what they can afford to pay, how they will be able to afford to pay and then convince them to engage with the plan. You will need to be able to navigate your way through many a bull$hit/exaggerated story (but also accept that some of those horror stories will be real) and ultimately find the balance between compassion and fairness.

Anyway, just my 2 cent. As I said, you will probably get better advice in either of the 2 forums I mentioned above (perhaps pm a mod to see if they agree and will move this thread?)
