Hi, looking for advice. My son has been working for the last 2 and a half years in a well known retail store. He was only able to get part time hours, from 15 - 22 hrs a week. He finally got a full time job and started two weeks ago. When he went back for his p45 he mentioned holiday pay and he was told since he left two weeks after the end of their financial year, March 31st, he was not entitled to any.The only time he took holidays was last summer for 5 days.He was never told he had holidays to take before the end of the year etc. Is the company within their rights to do this. Thanks.

Have they a policy where holidays don't roll over from one year to the next?

I think most companys have that policy? but then again most would tell you that you had to take your holidays before the end of the year anyway
    least in my experience

Same in my experience. Probably why they haven't rolled over to the new financial year.
