Just wondering if anyone would know if it might be possible to gain access to the Tallaght AC running track during the week around lunchtime.

Working in Tallaght and running during lunch hour most days mainly around Taymon Park, but would be great to get on the track this time of the year to do some speed work if that was possible. I pass by it most days and it is usually locked up during the day.

    Thanks

I expect you need to become a member, as there is a maintenance cost with the track.

    Thanks for that.
Joining Tallaght AC is not really an option (I dont live in the area just working in tallaght so i would not make any evening training sessions) but even at that....I am not sure if it is possible to access the track during lunch on weekdays as there never seems to be anyone around at that time.

Are there any Tallaght AC lads/lasses who would use it during lunch...or know if it would be possible to get on during lunch?

Theres somebody there everyday between 10am - 1pm and if you go in and explain your situation to the lads Im sure they can work something out for you. Although you'd have to use the track between those hrs(10am - 1pm) I cant see them giving you a key of your own to use outside of those times.

    Thanks for that info Tunguska.
I will try to pop down before 1 o clock one day and ask around. To be honest it is usually 1:30 by the time I am passing by which explains why it always looks locked up for the day.
I wonder would there be many using the track between 10 - 1 on a weekday ?

Ecoli and I are down there every now and then between those hours - its generally pretty empty. Though there are always people from the club about and heading out for runs as plenty of people wrk shifts etc etc.. I agree w/ tunguska- have a chat w/ the lads they are really sound and I reckon would do their best to help ya out if they could…

It gets a bit of use from local schools/colleges and have often had company when using it in the AM. As the lads said before best thing to do is approach the lads in the club they will be able to give you a more definitive answer. They may not be able to allow due to insurance reasons but I am not certain as to how this is set up exactly.

If you have difficulty reaching anyone however there is someone usually there weekends or the annual 5k race is on in 2 weeks so would be a number of the committee members around to help

Thanks Ecoli / DrQuirky - sounds promising i will defo get out before 1 and drop in over the next couple days now that I know someone will be there...no harm in asking...looks like a great facility and would be great to get some time on a proper running track. Will let you know if it works out.

    Cheers
