    Hi,
Myself and my wife received a chq from State Savings in both our names and Account Payee only. We don't have a joint bank account, can either of us endorse it to lodge to the others account?

    Thanks,

    V

    Good Afternoon VanOccupanter,

Thank you for contacting us and welcome to Boards.ie.

As your cheque is marked 'Account Payee Only' and made out to both your wife and yourself, it must be lodged into a joint account with the same names. Regrettably, it is not possible to cash or endorse this cheque.

If you would like to open a Joint Account to enable you to lodge this cheque, please call your branch to make an appointment. A Customer Advisor will be happy to arrange a convenient time to suit you and your wife. You can find your branches contact details here.

Alternatively, you can contact the issuer of the cheque to see if it is possible for them to cancel it and send the funds via electronic transfer. If the issuer is able to do this they may require your IBAN and BIC details which you can locate here on our website.

We hope this information helps and if there is anything else we can do, please don't hesitate to get back in touch.

    Thanks,
    Elaine
