    Hi all,

So I'm unhappy with my performance in World of Tanks at the moment, a lot of that is the crappy optimization that Wargaming have going on, but some of it may be my rig.
    Q6600 OC'd to 3.5Ghz
    Asus P5E3 Workstation
    8GB DDR3
    Club3D 7870

Neither my CPU nor GPU are fully loading, even after I tweak affinity. In terms of raw CPU speed Im not doing too badly against modern chips, but I'm wondering if theres much to be gained from other tech in newer sockets/CPUs? Other than power efficiency.

If I move to an i7 its going to be an expensive change but I'm also eyeing up a higher chip on the same socket? Are similar overclocks possible on the likes of a Q9950?

    Cheers,
    ED E.

I had a QX9650, back in the day, and I only ever got it to 4.0GHz.

This is the closest comparison I could get to your current chip, to give you an idea of what you could maybe expect:

I think everyones fps has suffered with the latest patch.... wait a bit to see if further optimization of the game will change things.

Very interesting. Wonder how much benefit is coming from the increased cache.

Yeah, its probably just WGs code. GPU is fully loaded in the garage(lobby for non players) and also in sniper mode, but as soon as I zoom out it tanks down to 30-40fps and 50-60% GPU usage. VRAM isnt full, neither is RAM, so Im not sure if theres any hardware cause.
