Anyone know of an informal leisure cycling group Kildare town.
I'm doing 70 to 100k one day of the weekend, 23kph to 27kph.

Thanks very much, done the club scene already. I'd rather stay away from the racers and politics, too much testosterone for me.

My experience would be that when a couple of guys get together ,whether on bikes or for whatever your sport is, eventually some element of testosterone squeezes it's way in, nature of the beast.

OP I don't believe that there's any other cycling group based in Kildare town, I think that there possibly is a group in Monasterevin similar to your requirements (ring Willoughbys Hardware and ask for PJ for more info).

Headstrong isn't a racing club, rather a leisure club with racers, you'd be more than welcome to come out with us some weekend on a look see basis if it's not for you no harm done, check out the facebook page, weekend activities will be posted there,

I ride with the local club and we have a fair few intermediate "Tourers" who are more interested in talking and helping one another. Their is a element of improving, but I wouldn't be chasing anyone. Just a matter of getting to know the people in your abillity zone and riding with them.

There's a no-name club leaves Keadeen most Sunday mornings at about 9am. Give it a shot.

There is a group that leaves Junction 14 Monasterevin at 7.30 every saturday morning. You are more than welcome to join us.

Excellent that's some great ideas, seems to be a lot going on when you scratch the surface. I'm sure I'll find a home in one of them.

Could anyone tell me which club in Kildare might be best for riding with people aged between the 18-30 bracket?

    We're all young at heart:)

In don't think any of the local clubs would have a group whose members are defined by age, Naas are by far the biggest and so would have the most members in the 18-30 bracket but I doubt the proportion is any much different to any other club.

I'm a member of Headstrong in Kildare Town, we'd have several members at the lower end of your range but to be honest we don't see them that regularly, we'd have quite a few regulars a couple of years either side of the 30 mark.

Cheers I was thinking it might be like that. Couple of quick questions, How would one go about joining the headstrong group? Do you guys meet up midweeks night or weekends? And do you generally go far on your cycles?

Our chairmans number is on the Facebook page,

    https://www.facebook.com/headstrongcyclingclub/info

give him a shout and he'll sort you out with membership, we do allow prospective members to come out on a couple of spins with no obligation sometimes the group thing isn't for everyone.

Our spins are usually on Wednesdays @7.30, aimed mainly at beginners, stays fairly local but sometimes depending on how many are there could be two groups and our weekend spin can be either Saturday or Sunday, routes are always posted in advance on the Facebook page 80km-100Km, there'll always be the option to head back early for anyone under pressure for time or who doesn't fancy the full spin.

There's often a Friday evening spin too, Dave, one of the members usually organises that, he'll put a message on the Facebook page if it's going ahead.
