Thinking of heading here for family holiday this year. Wife got laid off so need to keep costs down. Anybody been there? Can I do without a car? Will the activities keep 11, 9 and 6 year old boys entertained. Is it an expensive destination overall?

    any feedback welcome

haven't been to keycamp but here's one I would recommend roompot, arcen. fly Ryanair in to eindhoven. Don't need a car. hire a pre- pitched tent ( they've everything) volcanic spa, swimming pool for kids, playground. kids clubs, bike hire, lakes canoeing, brewery and schnapps house nearby...

That's the one i'd recommend in the Netherlands for cheap but nice and a bit of luxury

My friends worked on dunreill and loved it.
Watermark on site and all, good fun
    However check out all companies,
    Vacances soleil (deutch camping company)
    Canvas holidays
    Thomson al fresco
    And eurocamp (keycamp)

    Best wishes.

Been twice first time kids were 8.10.11 love it. Hired a good quality duringalow . Hired a car from charlorei airport belgium. Rides and pool fantastic activities..

Second time did a land bridge stayed in brugge for 5 days and 10days in durinel 10days when girls were in teens they loved brugge but accommodation in durinel had gone down . Torrential rain for 10days didn't help but park and pool is good.

You can fly to Amsterdam get a train to the Hague very handy . Taxi to the park. A lot of people speak English so translation not a bad thing.

You can hire homes of the camp cheaper than keycamp but go for the newer up todate homes.

Pool is free for 2hrs a day but is very good.

We went last year with three children (17, 13, 4) and everyone loved it. Flew to Amsterdam & got a Suntransfers minibus door to door. Very doable on public transport but, for us at least, the transfer was only a few € more and significantly more convenient. Stayed with Eurocamp who we found to be much cheaper than anyone else.

We stayed just before high season kicked in so evening entertainment was somewhat limited.

The theme park is excellent and the pool/water park complex is very good albeit a little pricey. The two hours free in the pool are only for those who book directly with Duinrell AFAIK.

The town of Wassenaar is literally across the road and has a great supermarket (Jumbo). There are also has some nice restaurants, including a Chinese that do take-away. Luciano's ice cream parlour is a must.

Things to try or visit while in the area include European Space Agency at Noordvijk & tourist market in Katwijk aan Zee.

Both the Hague and Amsterdam are easily accessible.

If you have any particular questions just ask.
