Hi my brother's wife is planning on returning to work part time. My brother has all the tax credits etc. he earns about 85k. What rate would she be taxed at? Does she have an amount she can earn before paying PAYE?

Your brother can't have all your sister in-laws credits and rate band. All he has is the transferable portions. Your sister in-law still has her PAYE tax credit of 1650 euro and rate band of 23800 euro.

This combination means in a 12 month period you can earn 8250 without paying paye and then the balance up to 23800 is taxed at 20%. Anything above the 23800 is taxed at 41%.
USC and PRSI rates apply as normal.

Thanks. Yeah that's what I meant. I know he can't get all of the credits.
