This could be kind of fun.. So just take a historic scenario and add a modern twist to it.. Such as

Christopher Columbus arrived in America, and in the sand he wrote, "lol first"

Charles Darwin arrived in the Galapagos Islands, and in the distance he witnessed a mirage of Evolution battling against The Shield.

There was a competition a bit like this in the Spectator for "sentences that would change the world".

Winners were along the lines of:

Eve: "I'd rather have an orange."

Art dealer: "Mr Hitler, we really like your paintings!"

Mrs Roberts' gynaecologist: "Its a boy."

It's not that ridiculous as he wasn't that far away from America.

Magellan's expedition of 1519–1522 became the first expedition to sail from the Atlantic Ocean into the Pacific Ocean (then named "peaceful sea" by Magellan; the passage being made via the Strait of Magellan), and the first to cross the Pacific.Magellan's ship was guided using state of the art radar and satellite systems developed in his home country of Portugal,a then world leader in technology. The voyage was sponsored by Google Maps and Red Bull.

A bored Alien on Tau Sagittarii spotted earthlings for the first time through his special time - machine telescopeythingymagiggy.

'Here Hector, he said, have a look at the crowd on that feckin' blue planet.'

Hector says 'Bee the hokey, they look like feckin' apes with clothes on...let's send a radio message to SETI HQ in Ohio ...a really simple one because they are probably stoopid.'

    But the first Alien disagreed.

'No, he said, a few of them guys look really switched on, so I'll make it really, really, really complicated...let's say 'WOW!'

That was on the 15th Aug 1977, and the boffins are still trying to make sense of it.

    ps
(I invented the name Hector...I've no idea what his real name was...and for the life of me I couldn't think of a name for the 1st Alien)
