Do you receive many weird emails?

Majority of us have probably got the one from the Nigerian prince requesting bank details so he can transfer over his wealth. Very kind indeed.

Then you have the typical spam, regarding products that you don't want.

Have you got any that just make no sense from unknown sender?

    I got this one today..

"Portrait of Henry O. TMS is also a working organic farm. A short time later, on September 18, 1953, they were assigned to the 316th Air Division."

    googled this and found nothing.

The 316 was stationed in Germany. Sounds like someone digging up servicemens records, maybe for family tree or whateveR?

I get some oddballs e-mailing me stuff about "your account has been suspended for non-payment..". Freaks.

The 316 Air division had me thinking it was military related all right, but I just found it very bizarre to find it in my email account I primarily just use for banking.

I have a mate who is constantly playing practical jokes on me by way of pranks calls and emails.

I have received emails from the zodiac killer and pictures of his butt.

It is NOT the type of thing this girl wants to see thank you.

Which is why he does it.

Unless your email address is really left field, there's probably someone in the world with a very similar one wondering why the hell they never got an email with the info. :)

Some of those techniques remind me of how I dealt with the scam phone call we received a few years back from an Asian guy saying he worked for Microsoft or something.

I gave him the run around:)

i get tonnes of emails for ****tards who cannot complete an online form that has YOURNAME@gmail.com

I have changed an online ad for a flat in london to accept only nazis, an abortion clinic in colorado to accept pro life people, a priest in michagan who organises AA meetings to just have a pint.

kinda sad these idiots exist and have the same name as me :(

As I joined gmail in the early days and managed to get an email address of my firstname followed directly by my surname I get emails for every other human being on the planet who shares my first and last name. Most recently was a sample 'save the date' wedding invitation thingy from some girl's fiance for her approval (still debating whether to reply that having had time to think about it I've decided I don't want to get married :D). Before that it was lesbian seks pics from some girl 'I' fooled around with with a note saying she looks at them often to remind her of our times together.

My understanding is that the gibberish is to get around the spam filters and the purpose of the email is to get you to respond with something like "who is this?" thus validating the email address to them.

My Gmail account when it first started got tonnes of stuff to congressman recyclops, all about campaign plans and meetings made for interesting reading they then must have realised congressman recyclops was missing the meetings as they stopped :-(

I thought I had fairly unusual first and last names, but put together in an email address, I turned into a 5-star hotel restaurant manager, and received an invoice for €1,000 for bread.

I used to get loads of emails about Este Laurier stock, orders and promotions that needed to be set up for this woman's region. She had the same name as me although when I emailed back on a few occasions to say they had the wrong address they never replied but kept on sending me the emails.

Was wondering if it was some sort of scam at one stage but couldn't figure out what the hell it could be.

I have an old Paypal account that I opened in the UK and haven't used in about 10 years. I keep getting fake emails about the account from someone pretending to be Paypal. I've got about a pound left in the account and Paypal won't let me shut the account. Fcuking hate Paypal.

The Email adress mentions Sun Records so might be something to do with Johnny Cash.He was stationed in Germany with the US military in the early 50s.

These are increasing. Most spam get blocked by various rules so now they're trying to fool spam filters with real text.
Not sure what angle is, maybe phishing for responders.

Here's a good one I found in the spam folder the other day:
The challenge hypothesis proposes testosterone as the key physiological mechanism underlying this tradeoff. After telling her he had snapped the cat's neck, he beat her harshly with a fly swatter. Farragut attacked her with his strongest ships.

    Makes sense.

My husband constantly gets emails to his gmail for a guy in the US who shares the same name as him. He has received his travel iteninary, with flight tickets to be printed. Hotel reservations incl credit card details!! Most recently he received family photos from the guys daughter. So he went back to her and explained what had been happening. Hopefully they will stop now.

Now that you mention it, I did get an email confirmation about some naughty stuff she bought online. I'm with gmail so may be a coincidence or something to do with their system. My email address is firstname.surname@gmail.com, but if you leave out the dot it will also go to me.

I send you my photo if it is pleasant to you, I will send to you more. I also will be glad to see your photos. I'm from Russia, I hope this is not a problem for us.

I keep getting legit emails sent to me by mistake.

Received 2 of my pseudo name’s airline tickets on different occasions. Was able to bring them right to the point where I was able to enter my passport details and 'claim' the ticket as my own. But I didn't.

Received a really in depth and personal email from another pseudo name’s friend about her struggle in college and with life etc.

Received feedback on a pseudo name’s job interview, which was a bit of fun when I threw 'data protection' in the response to the relevant HR dept.

The most recent one was sad when I received an email from someone writing about his deceased son to whom he obviously thought was his deceased son's friend. Pictures of the grave and everything.

On all occasions I'll write back to advise the sender of their folly. Some are a bit of craic, and some are not. Advice? Be sure about the email address you're using.
