I think I will be doing 2 poems: Chernobyll and An tOide and 2 stories: An Gadaí and Buachaill ón mBaváir for the JC. Just wondering how many is everyone else doing? An Gadaí and an tOide both cover a lot of themes so I was wondering should I just focus on them or is it too risky?

Up until now I only ever bothered learning one poem and one story. Subh Milis and An Rún. I've gotten away with that in every exam since the start of second year but I think I'll do one or two more of each just to be sure. I can't say for certain, because I haven't done those pieces you mentioned so don't know what themes they cover, but the chances are it'll be alright. Much like in English, if it can fit it does fit! Just make sure to tie it in to the theme in the opening paragraph if possible.
There was an obscure bunch of themes for our pre in the prós as far as I can remember. Probably won't be that off the wall in June. Hopefully not anyway! I think the Irish exam was done by DEB.
