Some of these Kingston drives are "hobbled" versions, slow read/write

Preferably wait for the Crucial m500, which is a superior drive and regularly drops close to this price (hit 79 sterling recently from Amazon)

Lads if I buy one of these how do I get my existing OS from the old hard drive to the SSD? Am I right that I need to "clone" the old one? Is that reliable? Would rather not fork out for another copy of W7.

Nice one Kev! My laptop has a 1tb drive but since I got myself a NAS a few months back I'm only using about 170gb. Think I'll get myself a 480gb Crucial M500!

Samsung 840 Evo blows the Crucial M500 out of the water. If you have SATA 3 they are worth the extra investment.

Never even heard of SATA 3!! I have this laptop so how do I go about figuring out what SATA it is please? It's a few years old so I suppose it's SATA 2....

Download and run Speccy from http://www.piriform.com/speccy

Install and run it and click on Storage on the left hand side. You should see an entry for SATA Type (it should say either SATA-II 3.0 Gb/s or SATA-III 6.0 Gb/s)
