This is Vladimir Zhirinovsky, often referred to as the clown of Russian politics. Only now may he have gone too far. On Friday, Zhirinovsky went off on a reporter for Russia Today (the newswire, not the television channel), after she asked him about recent Ukrainian moves to crack down on Russian men entering the country.

Then he called out Ukrainian nationalist Irina Farion. “You think she hates Russians? She loves them! Uterine frenzy — no lover, no husband, nothing. She’s got a beast between her legs! And that fire devil rushes upwards through her dumb bitch tongue.”“You have to do things kindly, nicely. Where are those idiots, come here. You come here too, journalist. OK, I’ll say it then you run up and start raping her hard.”Then he started shouting “Christ has risen! Christ has risen!” and pushed an aide towards the journalist, saying “Go kiss her! Go kiss her!”Then he called the journalist who defended the other journalist “a lesbian” and said she would lose her job.

He is the deputy speak for the Russian lower house of parliment!

Even in Russia they are outraged at him.

Still though I know the Russians are outraged but still.

Basically, the official Duma opposition parties are meant to be foils to Putin and United Russia, so will compete to see who can be the most homophobic, nationalistic, misogynist, racists in order to curry favour with Putin.

The party is a construct to suit Putin and are designed to be outlandish ...very damaging to society and politics though.

He pushes the aide at the reporter (right into her) and remember she is pregnant!

People have said other journalists will do nothing as they are afraid of politicians.


He is about every ist out there this guy. Sexist, racist, classist, and absurdist-man even heterosexist.

He was at the peak of his political fame in the 90's.

I know it is far away. But this made me so angry!

The reporter ..was PREGNANT ...and he goes slamming the aid into her!

I'd hardly call it slamming, he made an fool out of him, the girl herself was laughing at the end, everybody seemed to get a giggle out of it.

If that's what were trying to use to beat the war drums there's a long way to go.

Plenty of psychology to explain out that one. Im sure if he wasn't shoved at her and yelled at by an apparent authority figure he wouldn't have acted so automatically. Saying that I'm sure he found the reporter attractive, which played into the couple seconds of confusion.

Still, he'll be embarrassed about it for a very long time.

What I don't understand is the pace at which everyone analyzes Russia under western ideals & morals, rather than treating them as an entire continent that grew under completely different circumstances.

Who here experienced & recalls communism? I don't.
