Hi I made a stupid mistake earlier. I put about 75ml of engine oil in with the transmission fluid in a diesel car by accident! The fluid was at the very top nearly! Will this cause serious problems? It wasnt my car so I'm worried now that the car will be ruined

Drain it all out and replace with transmission fluid.
Normal oil becomes 'frothy' and doesn't lubricate gears.

You sure you filled the transmission filler? On a manual gearbox this is usually hidden in the depths of the bay.

If it's a "filled for life" jobbie, getting it out is a massive pain without a good sucker set-up. I'd be pretending it didn't happen, but I am a bad person..:)

Drain it then, and replace the filter too before refilling.

Would that small amount cause massive problems? Thanks for your help!

Yes it will cause problems best to drain replace filter and refill

a lot of auto trans dont have drain plug but do have sump that is removable. Even the wrong type of ATF can cause problems.

With a typical transmission costing between 3 and 5k to repair replace its not something I leave to chance.

Its why I diy myself as know I have right fluids in my jeep rather than some grease monkey making a call that HE can get away with and I might no notice.

In Auto transmissions its also just as bad to have too little as too much fluid.

There is probably a you tube video for that type of car showing how to change fluid.

ATF isn't just used as lubricant it is also pushed through lots of valves to engage clutch bands change gears carry worn parts of the clutch bands to filter.

The problems engine oil may cause won't be noticeable right away it will be down the road.
I wouldn't be impressed if it was my car and would do a flush and refill. Others would just do a refill. And some would just take a chance. But as you said its not your car so the owner should make that call.
