Black alloys on mini

What would be the best (cheapest) way for me to have 4 black alloys on my mini?

Is there somewhere I could go to have my stock ones painted?

Could someone with no ability to use his hands (outside pleasuring the women of Dublin) paint them myself?

Is there anywhere I could buy a set of black mini branded alloys?

Thanks for any help/advice in advance

IMO, visually, you can only get away with painting certain alloys black. Those aren't them.

There is a chap advertising on donedeal wheel respraying he has a mobile unit so he can come to you and do the wheels there and then

Would you not have a go doing it yourself done all my own repraying of any alloys i had with no issues plenty of instructions on the web on how to do it

Fair enough but with the black wheel arches, stripes, roof and wing mirrors I think it would work

I'll look him up now thanks.

I looked at some youtube videos earlier, the sanding just looked like a recipe for disaster in my hands.

Not worth your money tbh. It's basically scouring the top layer of paint and painting over that, then baking it in a UV oven for a few mins. You get a finish that'll chip easily. It's really only for car dealerships so the alloys on cars they're selling don't look complete cack.

You'll actually spend as much on it that way as you would getting a proper refurb done by Wheel Wizards.

You tube is your friend. Clean, sand, clean, dry, primer, leave dry light rub with wet and dry sand paper, clean ,leave dry ,spray with paint light coats, leave to get tacky and spray again, repeat last process several times and then if you want you can use lacquer if you want. Note black will show any imperfections unlike any other colour. You should be able to do the 4 wheels in a day.

Those alloys arent angular enough to look good black tbh :(

+ Powdercoating > painted wheels more durable and looks alot better

The problems with those wheels (in my opinion of course)
    Thick spokes
    Small

For black wheels to work, you need big brake discs and calipers behind them, and thin spokes so they don't look like steel wheels.

Would ordering wheels from England work? They'd fit ok and all?

Yeah even though I know sweet f all about cars I always had a thing for minis. I can't afford to run and insure a JCW with their 2 litre + engines so I bought a 1.4 litre cooper and I'm upgrading it. Already had the interior redone with a full black/red leather trim.

You should do a thread on all the jobs done in the projects forum as well if you have any pictures

I have a white MINI with black roof, stripes and wheels at the minute and I think it looks well. They're 15" wheels that came as an option in One spec.

I'd say go for it, I think it looks well.
