Job seekers allowance

My girlfriends on jobseekers (100 a week) and I've just finished an interview with eishtec today... If I was successful and got the job, earning at about 360 a week, would she lose out on her payment? Obviously if I was earning too much for her to keep it, we'd tell the DSP and have it gone, otherwise all sorts of trouble will arise but just said I'd see what to expect, since there's 4 weeks training we'll get rid of it after that but don't want to go asking in case they think I have the job and she loses out before I actually make a wage and keep the job

I have looked on citizens advice and searched it but nothing shows up

If she's on Job Seekers 'Benefit' it then you taking up employment won't matter, but I guess your talking about Job Seekers Allowance.

Also if your not co-habiting then it won't matter either.

    Have a look here, http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/irish_social_welfare_system/means_test_for_social_welfare_payments/work_and_jobseekers_allowance.html

there is also a Ready Reckoner which might be of help.

Do you live together? If not then any earnings you will have from employment does not affect her claim. If you do live together and you are in receipt of jobseekers allowance then you should have left sw know that you are living together.

The DSP know we're living together. I'm currently on disability allowance, so that doesn't affect her payment. But if I am successful, and please god I will be, I'll be earning about 350 a week so is that too much for her to keep her allowance is what I'm wondering, will she lose it all together or will they reduce it? I only want to know so I can calculate weekly earnings and see what I can save every week and what not

How old is she and how old are you? She will get a personal rate and also an adult dependant rate before your means from earnings are applied.

I'm 18 she's 20. And I get my own allowance so she doesn't get anything extra

Okay so you currently get €100 and she gets €100. When you go to work she will have a personal rate of €100 an and adult dependant rate of €100. If €360 is your gross then she should receive a payment of €20 approx.

He's on a disability payment so I doubt he only gets 100 even if he's only 20.

Missed the part about he being on DA. Anyways if he starts this job the amount I stated that his girlfriend will get remains the same.

    I get 188. So she'll get 20 a week?

Yes as her personal rate is €100 and an adult dependant rate at this age is €100. less you means from work would give her €20pw payment. Obviously I can only estimate on the information you have provided. If you go into you local social welfare office someone in there who would have better access to you situation would be able to give you a better answer.

She will need to contact DSP but she should still receive a payment.
