For anyone looking to attend Maynooth next year. Just wondering if any of you guys could give us a rough range of what we should expect to be spending on various things from accommodation to leisure. As much detail as possible would be appreciated.

The biggest part of your expenditure will be commuting/renting. If your commute looks as if it will cost more than €100 per week, or if you can't stand commuting for more than an hour or two, then renting is your best bet if you're able to afford €70-110 per week.

I'm only speaking from personal experience, but I'd say you should leave about €40-50 aside per week for food and toiletries if you're living in Maynooth, but you can survive the week on €25 if you commute - Londis and their €4.50 chicken roll meal deals are your friend. ;)

There's various mobile pay-as-you-go price plans that include calls, texts and internet for €20 per month (which averages out to €4.60 per week).

If you're living in Maynooth, you could probably survive on €200 per week, but if you're commuting, it'd be €30-40 (on top of whatever your bus fare is) per week.

If you are wondering what a typical night out in Maynooth would cost, the answer would be it depends.
A night out could cost as little as a tenner (if you have a few 'pre drinks' before heading out) to whatever you have in your bank account (If you start buying pints for the night) .
Most of the pubs are free in or else on the big nights they charge something like €2-3. I think Mantra is €10. The SU sells pints of fosters for €3 the other pints are around a fiver.
A taxi into the city is about €40 the busses stop at 11 and the night link runs on Fridays and Saturdays.

Just some advice. LEAVE your Bank card at home if you go to the Roost. There's an ATM logistically beside the bar, and oh my god.... :pac:

There's also the "buying Mods beer on boardsies beers night". That can set you back

    Commuting or renting cost +
    8 cans (bav is 8 for 10 atm) - 10 euro
    20 smokes (mayfair to save a quid) - 8.40
4 pints in the roost (fosters is 3.80) - 15.20
    Lunch - 5er ish
Dinner - (get a friend in student accom and cook there - ) - 3-4 euro
After pub food - 8 euro
    Morning coffee -2 quid
So 52.60 is the average cost of a thursday , the rest of the days you can skip the pub and after pub food and bring it down to 4 cans so that would be cheaper

You might as well spend a little more on the beer, the Fosters will cost you in the long run. :pac:
