If it's booked for Monday you might as well turn up and see, since you'll incur a cost to cancel at this notice. You should probably be ok as far as the NCT centre is concerned though, as it's possible to get a car brought for NCT on a trailer with no tax or insurance, and it's not up to them to police how the car is delivered to them.

Obviously the car should be taxed before being driven on a public road though, and unless you declared the car off the road under the new regulations (in which case you shouldn't be driving it, and the NCT could prove a violation of same in itself!) I would have to question why didn't you just tax it instead of leaving it to the last minute to ask a question like the above.

Just turn up, its all ok. You can't tax a car without a valid NCT Cert, but you can NCT a car without Tax.

Lastly even if your car is declared off the road, you are allowed to drive to and from the NCT centre, and any garage that is doing pre work for the NCT test itself.

I would carry proof with you do of some sort in case you are stopped.

You can tax a car without a a valid NCT cert - only need insurance to tax a car. You are allowed drive a car to a NCT centre if it is declared off the road- if it is not declared off the road then you have an issue if stopped. No issue getting car NCT without tax.

you don't even need Insurance to tax a car! There's a lot of mis-info in this thread. Yes you can is the answer...but you'd be better off asking the NCTS yourself.

I couldn't do this last week in the Cork Tax office. NCT cert was needed, although no insurance was needed as such, just put down my friends policy number for the form.

you can tax for three months without showing the NCT cert and you do what you did for the Ins Details. (bloody stupid half-arsed system....)
