Sent off my log book last tuesday for a change of address. Completely forgot i have the NCT next thursday? Will they turn me away from NCT without it? Or is there anything i can do to get it back faster?

    Thanks Guys

They may not ask for it. But they could. You could risk it.

But hopefully it'll arrive back in the post soon!

Take car for test anyway. Even without logbook they will test car and and hold on to the disc until you return with logbook.

Passport or driving license will usually be sufficent.

They have always asked me for the VLC. I think Biko is correct here

Totally seems to depend on who you are dealing with behind the counter. Worst case if they ask for it, they will not fail you on it but will not issue the pass cert until you come back and produce it. So do the test anyway.

My car was NCT'd yesterday. I was asked for my logbook and license and I made some remark about "turning the house upside down to find the fecking thing". The man behind the counter laughed and said it wasn't a big deal and he would have waved me through without it.

Put two cars through this month and was asked for the VLC both times. Both tests in Ballymun.

Think Il just chance it. Just worried they will make me rebook it as i already checked online and the next date i could get was June or july and obviously don't want to have to wait until then.

Bring an A5 sized brown government issued looking envelope with you, leave it under your arm, a bluff that might work.
