    I doubt it very much.

As bazz says it is doubtful. In any event it would not affect the price on the day, it would be the subject of an appeal.

As mugsmugs said no it wont vrt is based on the book value of the car so it doesnt matter to revenue weather it has an engine or not as long as it has a vin number they dont care.

If the clutch was roasted your DMF will be shagged too.

    That is not entirely true.
On the day that you "clear" your car you pay the amount based on the OMSP.

However you may appeal; In your circumstances the OMSP of a car with an US clutch would not be the same as a car that does not need attention.
The days of being able to fit a cheap clutch kit with DM etc are long gone.
You can read the appeals process here

Hope this puts you on the right road.

And they will tell you that you bought the car with the fault so you got with the price reflecting the repairs required to get it road worthy.

Vrt is calculated on the vehicle in a roadworthy condition they dont care what mechanical condition its in thats your lookout.

I can assure you that you can appeal as outlined.
I fail to see what the price paid for it has to do with the VRT.
That, price paid used in determination of VRT, was removed from the legislation many years ago

afaik it has to be a viable car, thus no engine would affect the VRT (I don't think you'd actually be able to VRT it with no engine) but a slipping clutch? Very doubtful

I presume you meant that for some one else as I never said anything about it not having an engine.
And yes you can claim for the cost of fitting a clutch and flywheel because I know that it has been done.
A modern day cars' clutch can cost more than getting a head skimmed and fitting a new head gasket.

You will need all the receipts and vat receipts and detailed invoices.
Obviously it does not mean that you will get the €800 off... and it takes time.
Hope it works out for you
