My brother is trying to decide whether to do engineering in NUIG or UL and I said I'd give him a hand trying to figure it out, just have a few questions for people in the course.

Is there placement in UL, and if so, for how long and can you organise it yourself?
When does QCA start counting towards your degree?
Is there a final year project and what's it worth?

    Thanks in advance!

There is placement. You can organise, or they can organise it for you. People whinge about the co-op office, but there usually isn't a problem for engineers.

QCA counts from second year onwards. First year is not counted. Second and third are worth the same (even though third year is only half a year due to co-op) and final year is worth half your degree. Your FYP weight depends on your course.
