Cant log into Network Account after Bootcamp Install

    Hi All,

Long time lurker first time poster. Am a lone Mac user in a windows based environment. I got bootcamp installed on an iMac with Mountain lion 10.8.7. Installation went well for the bootcamp apart from a mistake of installing a 32bit version of windows.

Updates where ran from a remote user and that went well.

Went to log into my account (mac is on a network) and it would not except my password or username. Logged in under the local administrator and my account has completely vanished form users and groups.

I had stuff back up so I am not at complete loss. We tried put the mac back on the network but failed at every level. I am looking at an erase and install and hoping that works. Anyone experience anything similar? Or can you recommend a specialist company that can integrate a mac properly on to a large windows based network company.

    Thanks

Is it Windows or Mac OS you can't log on to ? Not really clear from your post. Did you join the windows installation to a domain ?

    Hey Zener,

Could log into the windows partition successfully and if domain means a network yes it was connected to the windows server. But could not log back into the mac partition. Went to the help desk support who reset my password but still could not log into my mac except under a local administrator (could see no sign of my user account in users and groups). Could log onto another mac with my username and password so my account is still active on the network, thank god!

I guess at this stage the damage is done. But I would like to get some sort of handle on what happened. I suspect the it guy inadvertently installed or done something he should not have. He did mention that he installed a 32 bit where he should have installed 64 but windows version. There's probably no way of retrieving my account on the machine and all efforts afterwards in the local administrator account failed to connect to the windows server. So I think only option left is a erase and install.
