Opinions on clubs(the swinging kind)

So I've recently had a bit of good fortune in the bookies and decided I'm going to get rid of my beginners set of golf clubs and treat myself to an upgrade. The only club I'm planning on keeping is my 60 degree wedge.

I've been talking to a couple of family members who have sworn by ping for years. I still need to get down and hit a few balls to see if they suit but from online shopping this is the wishlist so far. I'm just looking to see if anyone on here has any feedback about these clubs.

    Ping G20 4-SW £380
    Ping G25 driver £230
    Ping G25 Fairway wood £160

These are the prices in sterling on the American golf website. I'll also be getting a putter but I won't even think about that until I've tried a few to see how they feel.

I was also wondering i anyone on here has any experience with being fitted for new clubs in American golf and if they have any feedback?

    Thanks in advance.

They're certainly renowned as being a good game improvement club.

Personally, I've held a Ping iron once, and seen plenty of images of them, I'll not be touching one again :D
I just can't stand that club head... when the wedge head is bigger than a driver head I draw the line

That said, some people love them and swear by them.
Horse for courses, so hit plenty before making up your mind!

    Ha ha! Brilliant! :pac:

But I recommend a good set of Calllaway cavity back irons, forgiving and a good strong high hit.

We could merge it with the Naas Singles thread

Are American Golf not usually more expensive than the likes of mcguirks or halpennys?

I'd hit as many clubs as you can before decide on a set and try to go in with no pre conceptions on what club you want.

I went to try out irons and was convinced I would pick Ping irons going in, hit loads of irons and the Pings were nice but I ended up with mizuno jpx825's, delighted with them.
Moral of the story, hit different clubs and pick what works best

Think they are cheaper . I priced a ping G25 four wood in mcguirks €219 rang American golf €199. Now that's only one club but twenty quid is twenty quid

If you can save definitely go for it although I think McGuirk and Halpenny will match any price from American golf :)
