Just a quick question regarding Away CSS, I played an open recently and checked there to see the CSS, on the results page it gave a Home CSS as 73 and the Away CSS as 75!
I was a visitor and am only starting to play opens this year really.
Is it common to have an Away CSS?
And is that what I should be making adjustments based on?

Away CSS is calculated for visitors if there are more than 20 iirc and yes the away CSS is what visitors are adjusted by.

Should have just searched the web for it :o

    For anyone else:

    CSS in Open Competitions
In competitions in which there are players playing at their 'Home' course ('Home' players) and players who are Members elsewhere ('Away' players i.e. 'Visitors') the following conditions shall apply in the calculation of the Competition Scratch Score.
2.1 When the number of either 'Home' or 'Away' players is less than twenty in Categories 1, 2, 3 and [4] one CSS shall be calculated for the entire field and all handicap adjustments shall be based on that CSS.
2.2 When the number of 'Home' and 'Away' competitors, in Categories 1, 2, 3 and [4], are each twenty or more a separate CSS shall be calculated for both 'Home' and 'Away' players.
2.3 If the CSS calculated for 'Home' players is higher than that calculated for 'Away' players the CSS calculation should default to a single CSS calculation as provided in Clause 1 above.
2.4 When a player is a Member of the club hosting the Open competition but has nominated another club as his Home Club, for the purposes of the CSS calculation, he shall be regarded as a 'Home' player.
2.5 The procedure for calculation of a CSS under this Clause shall be in compliance with sub- clauses 1.1 to 1.13 above.
