Tony Browne has announced his retirement from inter county hurling. Incredibly he first played for Waterford in 1992 in the league and was 40 last summer. A true legend of the game and was hurler of the year way back in 1998. Such a pity he never won a senior All Ireland

Thanks for all the memories Tony and best of luck in the future

A great player and one you'ld go into battle with every time on your side. My favourite memory of Tony is sitting amongst hundreds of Tipp fans in 2002 down in Cork and his goal in the second half of the Munster Final. That goal was the score that fuelled a great few years for Waterford hurling after years of being in the wilderness.

All the best for the future Tony and thank you for all your efforts in the white and blue over the years.

Shame he didn't get the All Ireland medal. Think everyone was a Waterford fan in the early-mid 2000s

Fantastic player and a great ambassador for the game of hurling and Irish sport in general.

Hope he has a long and happy retirement
